Artist Andy Thomas recreates the scene where Wild Bill Hickok was playing poker at Nuttal & Mann's Saloon in Deadwood, Dakota, Dakota Territory, on August 2, 1876 right before Jack McCall shot him in the back of the head, killing him instantly

Wild Bill's tragic death mirrored his life. Hickok was holding two aces and two eights when he was shot. Those cards are now called a "dad man's hand".
