Invasor : The Champion

"There is always the motivation to win. Everybody has it. But a champion needs, in his attitude a motivation above and beyond winning"

"Invasor" - The Argentinean thoroughbred racehorse is a live example of a champion who not only excelled because of his refined qualities and endurance but also thrived to be the best throughout his career. Foaled in August 2002 in Argentina and bred by Haras Clausan, Invasor was purchased as a two year old and brought to Uruguay. Sired by the famous Candy stripes, Invasor astonished and amazed people by winning a 5 1/2 furlong maiden race by 6 3/4 lengths when he debuted at Maronas Racetrack in February 2005. Ridden by the leading Uruguayan jockey - Gustavo Duarte and trained by Anibal San Martin, Invasor continued to delight his country men by winning some of the prominent awards. After winning the 2005 Triple Crown in Uruguay in a magnificent style and earning a handsome amount of $113,886, followed by the wins - Polla de Potrillos, GP Jockey Club, GP Nacional in the same year , Invasor soon became an "elite" horse and made his way through every one's heart in Uruguay.

A highly esteemed racehorse, Invasor was sold for Shadwell Stable to Sheik Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for $1.4million - soon after which he was brought to Florida to be trained under Kiaran Mc Laughlin. After the initial lessons and training, the bright and brilliant stallion was then sent to Dubai to participate in 2006 UAE Derby. But unfortunately due to traffic problems in the start of the race, the substantial and excellent star finished fourth in the race, the winner being Discreet Cat

But as they say, nothing apprehends a champion not even defeat. In November 2006, Invasor - the true champion won the $5 million Breeders Cup Classic by succeeding in crushing the second favorite, Lava Man and making his way all through the winning post by defeating the favorite, Bernardini for which he bagged the prestigious awards - US Horse of the Year and US Champion Older Male Horse Award. Some of the other title earned by the stallion in 2006 season are - Pemilico Special, Suburban Handicap and Whitney Handicap.

Invasor was then voted as the No. 1 in World Thoroughbred Racehorse Rankings in 2006

With the beginning of 2007, the victor under the jockey Fernando Jara gave yet another superb performance by winning the Donn Handicap. This was his fifth successive Grade I victory. And finally the Dubai World Cup where the "national hero" of Uruguay under the same jockey Fernando Jara amazed and delighted all his fans by emerging as a real champ by defeating it's rival Discreet Cat. His time to compete the race in 1:59.97 is the second fastest in the racing history! Invasor earned a whooping prize of $6 million by winning the Dubai World Cup of 2007.

Soon after the Dubai win, the victor with career earnings of $7,804,070 from 12 races retired in June, 2007 due to the fracture in a bone. The bay colored stallion now stands at Shadwel's stud in Kentucky at a stude prize of $20000

The "champion" and the "National Hero" of Uruguay, Invasor has been honored by the Invasor Stakes at Hipodromo Nacional de Maronas
