Appaloosa Horse Pictures - Appaloosa Art
Like snowflakes, no two Appaloosas are exactly alike. Most Appaloosas are recognized by their colorful spotted coat patterns, striped hooves, mottled skin (most visible around their eyes and on their muzzle) and white sclera around the eye. Appaloosas are one of the most popular horses in the United States and are known for solid and sturdy bone structure, good, hard feet and legs, and a hardy constitution. Some Appaloosas are born of a base color and pattern which will be lost to white. The majority of the Appaloosas are ideal stock horses weighing between 800 and 1,00 pounds and running from fourteen hands two inches to fifteen hands. Outside the competitive arena, Appaloosas are used as working ranch horses, trail horses, lesson horses and as safe and reliable family horses. Today, over a half million Appaloosas are registered with the Appaloosa Horse Club.
